| Description | Michael D. Cooper obtained his law degree in 1996 from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of both the BC and Alberta Bars, and is a registered Canadian patent agent and trademark agent. He has prepared, filed and prosecuted numerous patent applications in areas of technology ranging from steel making, to oilfield tools, to computer implemented business methods. Michael also has extensive experience in other aspects of intellectual property law, including in the transfer and licensing of patents, trademarks and copyright.Michael Cooper is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and is a former editor of the IPIC Bulletin. He is a Past President of the Victoria Bar Association. He is an adjunct instructor on intellectual property for the University of Victoria Law School’s Business Law Clinic. Prior to his legal career, Michael did extensive offshore sailing, including a three-year trans-Pacific voyage culminating in a 46-day single-handed passage from Japan to Canada. |
