Kylie Sier

Kylie received her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, at York University, in 2019. Building upon her background as a social worker, she continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting individuals and communities in struggles for social justice. As a caseworker in the Immigration Division at the Parkdale Community Legal Services legal clinic, she advocated for clients facing intersecting social and legal issues. Today, she continues to volunteer with the clinic on projects aimed at engaging members of the community. As a Senior Editor with the Journal of Law and Social Policy, Kylie collaborated with community members, authors, and colleagues to publish works around lawyering, activism, and social change. She actively volunteered throughout her studies, including organizing with the Osgoode Hall Law Union in support of educators on strike, supporting survivors of sexual violence through the inaugural Osgoode Survivors Peer Support Network, and with Pro-Bono Student Canada’s Family Law Project.

At Osgoode, Kylie received a number of awards in recognition of her academic achievement and commitment to the broader community, including the D. Paul Emond Award, Upper Year Award of Excellence in her second and third years, as well as prizes in civil procedure, family law, and administrative law.

Prior to commencing her legal career, Kylie earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Regina and worked as a Domestic Violence Support Worker, Community Youth Worker, and gender mainstreaming policy intern.
