Description | Simply put, I became a lawyer because I wanted to help people solve problems. This has been my focus throughout my legal career, as I guide clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
A compassionate and patient advocate, I understand that, during a crisis, even the smallest tasks can seem daunting. Knowing that someone you trust is looking out for your best interests can be crucial. I fill that role for my clients while simultaneously educating and empowering them so that they are stronger and better equipped to face future challenges. After graduating from law school at the top of my class, earning the Law Society Gold Medal and Prize, I served as a judicial law clerk at the BC Court of Appeal. Since being called to the bar in British Columbia, I have had a diverse litigation practice, working with a number of social justice organizations, including the leading human rights law firm in Namibia. I have appeared as legal counsel before various administrative tribunals, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of British Colombia and the Supreme Court of Canada. Through this experience, I have gained a keen understanding of the benefits of seeking an amicable resolution to legal issues. My aim is to help my clients resolve their disputes fairly and efficiently, honouring their values and priorities, and using alternative dispute mechanisms wherever possible. My clients can rely on me to exercise strategic thinking and sound judgment to determine the best approach in each case (which may sometimes include going to court). In addition to my family law practice, I will continue to advise individuals and unions on labour and human rights issues. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law at Oxford University. In my spare time, when I’m not working on my dissertation, you can find me travelling to new destinations, eating delicious food and battling pests in my urban vegetable garden. |
