Genevieve Desmarais

In September 2011, Geneviève joined the Business Development Bank of Canada as Assistant Vice President, Legal Affairs.

Genevieve acts as the primary source of advice and expertise for BDC’s Human Resources Department and bank administrators with respect to human resources issues and litigation files, amongst other dossiers. She also acts as the primary source of legal support for BDC’s Advisory Services business. Genevieve is involved regularly in the review and negotiation of consulting agreements and supporting documentation, as well as the management of litigation arising from that business. She is also responsible for the preparation and negotation of partnership and sponsorship agreements between BDC and strategic partners evolving in the SME ecosystem.

In May 2017, Geneviève completed all requirements to become a Certified In-House Counsel, Canada (CIC.C).
