Description | Dana Gregoire maintains a broad practice in corporate/commercial and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and political law. He also advises clients on government relations and strategy.Dana is engaged in a diverse corporate/commercial practice for both private and publicly-held companies. He advises clients on a wide range of transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, and regulatory compliance with Canadian securities law and stock exchange requirements. Dana also advises for-profit and not-for-profit boards on governance and shareholder/member activism issues such as hostile bids and proxy contests.Dana also advises clients on political law matters at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government. Dana’s advice covers a wide range of issues, including lobbying law compliance, freedom of information requests, conflicts of interest, elections law, and related offences under the Criminal Code.Dana lobbies for clients at all levels of government, helping to navigate the legislative process and the government decision-making process more generally. He has lobbied across Canada on a range of issues to cabinet ministers, their staff, and senior civil servants. He has advised clients on how to best advance their case, whether in lobby meetings, through written submissions, or appearances before legislative committees. Dana advises clients on policy analysis, strategic planning, parliamentary procedure, and political intelligence to effectively manage exposure to government decision-making.Originally from Winnipeg, Dana obtained his JD from the University of Manitoba, where he was named to the Dean’s Honour List and studied abroad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dana also holds an MBA (Financial Management) from Wilfrid Laurier University and a BA (Political Studies) from the University of Manitoba. While studying for his JD, he acted as Chief Returning Officer of student elections, planning and overseeing an election with over 21,000 undergraduate student electors.Prior to working with the firm, Dana worked for Hansell LLP and the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance. He has also been seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission.Dana is currently President and Corporate Director of Testicular Cancer Canada, and a Dignitas International Ideas to Impact Lab mentor. An active volunteer, Dana has worked with the Liberal Party of Canada, Houselink Community Homes, the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo, the Wilfrid Laurier University Graduate Students’ Association, Youth Parliament of Manitoba, and the University of Manitoba Students’ Union. |
