| Description | Annamaria Enenajor is a partner at Ruby Shiller Enenajor DiGiuseppe, Barristers, recently named one of Canada’s Top 10 criminal law boutiques by Canadian Lawyer Magazine. She practices criminal defence, constitutional and regulatory law. Annamaria vigorously defends her clients in criminal matters and provides comprehensive and strategic legal advice related to criminal and regulatory law. Following a clerkship at the Supreme Court of Canada, Ms. Enenajor began her legal career in the New York office of a multinational law firm, where she focused on defending government enforcement actions and conducting internal investigations into allegations of corruption and bribery. While in New York, Annamaria also maintained an active pro bono practice. She successfully represented LGBT asylum-seekers and staffed a low-income legal clinic for students in the South Bronx. She was also a member of a team of lawyers who brought an unprecedented civil rights class action against New York City to end the use of excessive force against inmates at Rikers Island and other New York City jails. For this work, she was awarded a 2014 Pro Bono Publico Award by the New York Legal Aid Society.
Ms. Enenajor is a strong public advocate for cannabis decriminalization and is the founder and Campaign Director of the Campaign for Cannabis Amnesty. She frequently writes, lectures and consults on how to create a cannabis legalization regime that is equitable and inclusive for all Canadians. |
