Profile | Andrew Montague is an associate and patent agent with Ridout & Maybee LLP in the firm’s Ottawa office. Andrew’s practice covers a variety of intellectual property areas including patent and trade-mark prosecution as well as assisting in various forms of intellectual property litigation. Andrew also assists in matters involving the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations and other regulatory issues. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Andrew completed a Master’s degree in the field of crop biotechnology. During this time he received a number of awards, including scholarships from the National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. As part of his graduate studies, Andrew also interned with a major international seed company and a Canadian biotechnology firm, working on technical, regulatory, and business development issues. After graduate school, Andrew worked as a biotechnology regulator at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
