Dawn Bourque

After practicing family law for several years with a large Bay Street law firm, Dawn opened her own practice in the fall of 2011. Operating as a sole practitioner, Dawn is able to tailor her services to particular client needs.

Dawn is experienced and comfortable with all levels of court as well as private arbitration, although the majority of her clients are able to resolve matters without the need for adjudication.

Dawn received her BA from the University of New Brunswick in 1992 where she received the Lieutenant Governor's Medal. While at the University of New Brunswick, she founded and ran the Women's Resource Centre, an advocacy group that provided information and counselling to students and women in the community.

Dawn received her MA in Canadian Studies from Carleton University in 1994. Then, as a doctoral candidate in Women’s History and Canadian Legal History, she was awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada fellowship. Dawn spent several years researching, teaching and presenting her work at scholarly conferences before embarking on her legal career.

Dawn received her LLB (Hons.) from the University of New Brunswick in 2001 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She spent her articling year as Law Clerk to the Honourable Michel Bastarache at the Supreme Court of Canada.
